Summary:We wrote this guide to inspire geoscience professionals and assist them in helping to provide Earth science enrichment for students, especially in school programs at the K-12 level. We have grown increasingly aware of the tremendous opportunities for enrichment, and the equally large resource represented by professional geologists and geophysicists. We hope to reach scientists working in resource and environmental companies, research institutes, state and federal agencies, and even college and university departments. We also hope to connect with teachers and help them make the most of the volunteers they meet; Location: Alexandria, VA
Earth Science Big Ideas:Big Idea 1; Big Idea 3
NGSS Science and Engineering Practices:Analyzing and interpreting data; Asking questions (for science) and defining problems (for engineering); Constructing explanations (for science) and designing solutions (for engineering); Developing and using models; Engaging in argument from evidence; Obtaining, evaluating, and communicating information; Planning and carrying out investigations; Using mathematics and computational thinking
NGSS Crosscutting Concepts:Cause and effect: Mechanism and explanation; Energy and matter: Flows, cycles, and conservation; Patterns; Scale, proportion, and quantity; Stability and change; Structure and function; Systems and system models
