Summary:Challenge middle level and high school students to increase their knowledge of oceans by learning to analyze and interpret live ocean data. With this lesson plan based on the Argo project -- an international ocean science research initiative employing a system of floats to gather data on ocean temperature, salinity, depth, and other properties -- students use an interactive mapping tool to study the temperature of the ocean from the surface to a depth of 2,000 meters and investigate how salinity changes by geography as well as depth. Students then use graphing and printing tools to compare and contrast ocean data collected worldwide.
