Summary:The GOES-16 (Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite), launched in 2016, is the first weather satellite in the GOES-R series from NASA and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Orbiting 22,000 miles above Earth, GOES-16 can see amazing details of weather on Earth and will be useful for identifying hurricane, tornado, and flood warnings. Teachers can access videos, posters, comics, games, and information to help elementary and middle level audiences learn more about the weather satellite and what it can do.
