Summary:This lesson will help students understans the ocean's role in the context of unequal heating of Earth's surface by the Sun and how the ocean redistributes that energy around the planet. Students learn about the large-scale movement of the ocean's waters and the significance of the North Atlantic region in the transport of heat throughout the ocean. Students explore data maps and visualizations to make connections between the various factors that influence global ocean circulation.
