Summary:Students examine and analyze lunar phase data by creating and analyzing graphs that plot th data for different weeks. This activity can be used to explore lunar phases, but will not enable students to understand the causes of the phases. Students will create graphs depicting how the percent of the Moon (as seen from Earth) illuminated by sunlight changes over time, and analyze the graphs to indicate which ates depict the major phases of new moon, full moon, first quarter, and third quarter, and to describe them.
